No backing out now!

Oh well, we have definitely hit the point of no return. An article publicising the walk was to day published in the TfL internal publication "the tIMes". Many thanks to Helen for the piece.

The guys at work who have been in the know have been very supportive. Big thank you to Darrell, Jane and Sanjeev for you support and to Berry for offering to walk a day with us. The company will be greatly appreciated, no offence Dave!

Well the training has tailed off a bit but I need to get serious as it's only three months and time is moving on. The last weekend was taken up by laying concrete and putting up metal sheds, oh what a glamorous life I lead! Till next time...

The Build Up

Sorry it's been a while coming, but life keeps interfering with the preparations for "the elongated stroll". We are curently in the midst of packing having sold the house 3 weeks ago. You may well be aware of the headaches that causes. Following the launch of the training regime all was going well, until 3rd March (wedding anniversary) - couple of beers and an Indian. The only possible remedy was the full english the following morning. Oh Dear !!
Anyway a couple of days later I walked into town and popped into Boots. I was shocked to discover that I had lost 5 pounds.
Not as shocked as the assistant though, when I explained that was all the money I had, and couldn't pay for my toothpaste and razor blades.
So it's back to the drawing board and a new e-bay search - where will I find motivation ? I don't mind if it's tablet, medicine, spray on whatever. I really need some.
Till the next time - best foot forward

Dave's... Day 1

I have thought long and hard what to call this entry, spent many a sleepless night thinking of a catchy tag to grab the attention, and also have something befitting this high tech media which gives us access to so much information, and so many people. As promised this is the first day of my serious preparation for the walk so I have decided to call this entry ...................................Day 1
I went to the GP this morning and was told that I was in reasonable health, and as long as I kept popping the pills I would continue to be so. Geed up by this great news I raced home and began.
As with all major events, statistics are king, so I took mine. I then did the maths and found that I was actually 14inches too short for my weight, something the GP clearly failed to identify.
So before embarking on a rigorous regime of yoga, pilates, tai-chi, weight training, swimming and cycling I shall be spending 8 hours a day standing up to my knees in manure in the greenhouse liberally imbibing "Miracle-Gro"
Then we shall see about the other stuff.
Best foot forward !!!
